Does availability open for BAPP reward Avios seats over the year?

Hey all

I have 2 x 241 vouchers and looking for 4 Avios seats one way from London to Hong Kong in December. Left it late to get my planning done and currently there is no availability for my dates 🙁

I’m wondering if seats will open up over the year. I’m looking at economy seats so hoping there is a chance of this but not sure … am I better off looking at alternative routes?

Yes, they can be added over the year, either as revenue management or if someone cancels seats originally released at T-355.

Also set up an alert with one of the tracking tools and check you’re getting sensible value as there are often very cheap (i.e. under £400) returns to Hong Kong especially if you’re happy to change plane en route.

The BAPP only opens up additional business seats, and usually works well if you look to start your journey from one of the regions, e.g, MAN or EDI, etc.

Not sure how likely additional Y seats becoming available tbh.

I’m actually looking to get to Hanoi, Vietnam and it’s looking crazy expensive to get to in December … so was looking at alternative options to get to that part of the world and then hop across.

Seems like I’ll have to bite the bullet and just pay the fare for a direct to Hanoi (Vietnam) or via IST (Turkish) … the reward options are causing other headaches with connecting flights.

Now Bankok route has opened back up from October have you checked that route?
There was nothing for my dates but I was after 26th in business so it had all gone.

Beijing or Shanghai is wide open. Even India is an option now theres direct flights to Hanoi/HCMC with Vietjet. Also consider Virgin pts as its 10k in economy from LHR-India.
