Hello! My Mum and I are flying to Bali via Doha (family wedding) on different tickets and I am struggling to understand exactly which lounges we will have access to in Doha. Grateful for any knowledge people here can share.
(No loyalty status for either of us at the moment)
Outbound
Me – BA-booked business class redemption flying BA metal LHR-DOH then QR metal DOH-DPS(Bali).
Mum – BA-booked business class cash ticket, same flights.
Return
Me – QR-booked business class redemption flying QR-metal both legs.
Mum – return leg of same BA-booked business class cash ticket, QR metal DPS-DOH (same flight as me) but then BA metal for DOH-LHR.
Not clear to me whether BA-booked tickets flying Qatar metal get access to the Al Mourjan lounges or if you have to have booked via QR. If you can in theory, also not clear to me whether BA-booked business class tickets get you an equivalent to QR business lite or classic.
Thanks!
For QR booked business class redemptions you can use the Qatar Airways Al Mourjan Lounge near A gates or the Al Mourjan Garden Lounge near C gates. Not sure about the BA booked tickets I am afraid.
@JeremyH – in order to access the QR Al Mourjan lounges in Doha referenced above, you need to be travelling on a QR flight in business class on a redemption ticket or any cash fare other than ‘P’ (Lite). If anyone is on a Lite fare or travelling BA you can instead access the OW lounges applicable to your class or status. It doesn’t matter whether the ticket was booked via QR or BA, it’s the booking class and airline you are actually travelling with that determines access.
Does a ba avios business booking not get into al mourjan? I got in with a finnair business points booking.

Yes, I think you are right for other OW airlines, but you need to be travelling in business or first and not on a QR ‘lite’ fare. You can’t access via status on a PE or Y ticket, but you can pay for entry.
Yup, you can access the Al Mourjan South or Garden lounges when flying buissness, either reward or paid on any OW airline, including BA. No access on Qatar buissness lite fares though, as @JDB says.
Related question – I was going to start a new thread, but this one is very close.
I’m flying from Doha on QR metal, redemption flights booked via BA. It appears from this thread that I should be able to access Al Mourjan or Garden lounges – which of these would be preferable? I’ve used Al Mourjan a few times before, but not been through Doha since the Garden opened.
I’m also currently BA Gold (not for much longer, or again!), does that open up any other options? My wife travelling with me has just dropped to Bronze, but I hope that any access I have would allow me to guest her too?
Thanks
There are separate lounges for people with OW status (which have all been reviewed separately on here), but I don’t know how they compare with QR lounges. From experience, the OW Sapphire level lounge was pleasant, but nothing special.

If you have lots of time, visit both. If you only have a few hours, go to the one closer to your gate (ask someone to advise you when you are there).
You’ve said “I’m flying” so it’s not clear what ticket your wife has. No guests into Al Mourjan.
BA Gold (oneworld emerald) gets you plus a guest into the Qatar Platinum lounge which is not as good.

The QR lounges in Doha reserved for first/business passengers (so not accessible to OW status holders not travelling in these classes) are, unsurprisingly, a whole lot better than any status lounges.
Thanks all – just to clarify, both my wife and I are flying from Doha on QR metal, redemption flights booked via BA – tomorrow evening on QR914 to ADL.
If I read the replies above correctly, there are three lounges mentioned: Al Mourjan, The Garden and QR Platinum?
There’s also a reference to “separate lounges for people with OW status”, I’m not sure which of the lounges this refers to?
As we are both on business tickets (albeit redemption), sounds like we will be going to Al Mourjan – no benefit in going to The Garden or Platinum (and my wife is not up for lounge hopping!)
Perhaps I should also mention that I was declined access to the OSL lounge in Oslo yesterday. Also on a business redemption OSL-DOH, they said that my ticket was “business light” – I’m aware that business light doesn’t include lounge access, but I thought that redemption tickets were not ‘light’ and included lounge access.
Maybe I won’t get lounge access in DOH anyway!!
Anyone have similar experience? I have 4 sectors on redemptions on QR over the coming weeks…

Unsure about Oslo, but we’ve done business redemptions on Qatar and had lounge access in Doha. Outbound from London was on BA, so lounge access wasn’t a problem in LHR.
