I was looking into $ Amex for business but according to the Amex UK website you can’t apply for their currency cards directly. Is there another way to get one?I’m specifically looking for a biz Amex rather than personal as I wouldn’t know whether I could repay the monthly bill with a biz account.

Yes, to my frustration, they closed IDC avenue a couple of years ago (I wanted to change cards, and my plans were abruptly thwarted).
I remember some talk that the card is available from private banks, but Amex never advises which.
You could try Global Transfer? I don’t really know how that all works, so maybe someone will be along soon who can help.
So annoying! Or any other card really… Unless one goes down the Revolut route? But they only offer a debit card right, and not sure they do business accounts?…

I don’t know if it comes with all the frills of the personal account (like RevPoints, for example)
It does, but only with the Grow plan and above https://www.revolut.com/business/business-account-plans/
I’ll probably go with that
