Hi, a friend of mine was booked direct from US to Heathrow on 2for1 Avios ticket in First. BA just cancelled the flight and rerouted him with a change and then in Business. They’ll also land a lot later (10h plus) into Heathrow than originally planned.
They really don’t want to take this but not really another option, and not been offered anything else.
I think they are eligible for the 75% downgrade compensation plus the EC/UK261 downgrade as well. All I’ve said is they need to stress that when they accept the rerouting this is an involuntary downgrade and they clearly wanted to fly in First. Anything else I am missing? Due to fly very soon so want to check nothing else that can be done.
When they make their post flight claim to BA they shouldn’t ask for downgrade compensation because BA will just say there isn’t any. And that is strictly correct.
They need to specifically ask for reimbursement as per the relevant section of UK/EU261 (see other downgrade threads for chapter and verse on the relevant article of the regulation)
They can also (depending on the reason for the cancellation) the delay compensation.
