Do you have any 241 vouchers in your BAEC account?
I do. Just realised I meant to say downgrade rather than cancel!
I take it if you downgrade you won’t get your voucher changed to the lesser, free card version from the Premium Plus version?
As the paid card’s voucher is different and much better than the free one’s.
Just done this by phone with someone very obviously not in Brighton. Very slick – Say “Product Transfer” at the IVR prompt to get the right path.
She opened with – any voucher earned will remain with the same validity date and terms. Everything on the account stays the same as per the email –
“As part of this product transfer, we will not create a new Account. Instead, your existing Account has been transferred to your new Card product. This means that all your Account preferences including your subscriptions and Direct Debits, will remain the same. You can view your Account preferences through the Account Management tab on our App.”
Card number and pin stay the same also.
Had to listen to several minutes of Ts&Cs and product description but in all very slick and completed in under 9 mins.

Ah, I see. So your BA Premium Plus Voucher stays as the Premium Plus voucher, not getting downgraded / changed to the free card one. I am aware downgrading will not invalidate / cancel it but always was thinking if it gets changed to the free version. I might do that too as we have 2 BAPP cards in the household and don’t think that’s necessary.
Correct, everything inc the voucher stays the same.
If you want to earn a new voucher on the free card you need to wait until the card anniversary of the account from when you took out the Premium one, but who would want that since it can only be used for economy ones.
Coincidentally, 5 mins after getting all the confirmation emails I got a spend £5k, get 2.5K avios offer…. forget it.

Yeah – I got that too as an offer for AMEX. £5k for 2.5k Avios bonus before November? Has to be the worst offer in the history of offers haha – that’s a SUB in itself.
I might downgrade to recoup some money and hold an AMEX until I can get a Plat methinks.. 1 in the household is enough.
I think it’s worth recalling that with Amex toughening up their application criteria it isn’t a given that one would be able to upgrade back to the BAPP
I’m holding a BAPP since a week ago. And will hit my 10k within 2 months. Assume I will get my companionship voucher shortly after that. Questions:
1. After the voucher is put in my BA account, I want to downgrade to the free Blue BA card to recoup the fee. My understanding is I won’t lose my premium (business class) companionship voucher and my Avios points, is that correct?
2. I plan to keep my downgraded free blue BA card until September next year (anniversary/renewal date) and upgrade back to the BAPP so I can spend to earn another premium companionship voucher. Is it possible or any issue you can see with this? Assuming they would let me upgrade, but why would they not if my income is 100k++ and good credit history.

I wouldn’t assume they will just upgrade you and downgrade at will so that you can evade the annual fee that virtually everyone else is expected to pay, although I’m sorry you are struggling to pay it despite claiming a £100k++ income. Amex is tightening up in a number of areas as has been observed in the last twelve months, the voucher costs them money so why would they help you not pay for it?
Just to update anyone who is going to downgrade their BAPP tp Blue prior to the upcoming deadline of 31st Oct.
Did this using the link provided by @Guy on this thread https://www.headforpoints.com/forums/topic/downgrading-upgrading-bapp-card/
