I already have 2 complaints on going with BA and am unsure I can face another battle.
Last week my partner and I travelled Belfast to Vienna via LHR. A week before departure our Belfast- LHR flight was cancelled and our only viable option was economy on aer lingus. Then at Heathrow my husband was downgraded from club world to economy.
So basically we used our voucher for both of us to upgrade 1 way and yet we ended up with 3 out of the 4 flights in economy.
What should I be asking for when I call BA? Essentially we lost our Barclays voucher. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
You’re due downgrade compensation. The fact that you booked via a voucher Vs cash shouldn’t come into it.
It would be worth you having a look at the UK/EU261 thread on the BA board on Flyertalk. You’ve got a slightly complicated situation where you need to work out what you’re due and what you want.
BHD-VIE is less than 1500km,so your husband are due 30% back of the avios and of the carrier fees and charges, plus the difference between economy and non-economy APD. You are due to same but only for the BHD-LHR segment. I would calculate the total avios as if you hadn’t used a voucher, and work out 30% of that – don’t count the voucher as valueless (or let BA write it off).
The sum probably won’t be very much, so you could complain to BA and see what they offer – they may be willing to give you a decent number of avios, but don’t settle for less than your calculation.
Better to ask the experts on Flyertalk for advice though.
