Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Early check in for BA Bronze at LHR

Does anyone know how early you’re allowed to drop checked luggage at LHR if you’re Bronze and flying short haul in BA Economy? Until recently I was Silver and there was no upper time limit so I could go and enjoy the lounges early but obviously I’ve now lost the lounge privilege.

Ah, thank you, yes it’s there in black and white, no time limit if you’re Bronze. I didn’t think to as I assumed that Bronze would be the same time as anyone else in short haul Economy since you can’t access the lounges. Seems there’s a blanket rule of no time limit for anyone entitled to use Club check in desks. Handy, because I can be guested into the lounge on this occasion and didn’t want to have to hang around until 2 hours before the flight to drop my bag.

There is. 2 hours for short haul and 3 hours for long haul when flying in Economy. A lot of people don’t know this and arrive at the airport far too early while expecting to be able to check in. I was always see gaggles of them hovering near to the check in entrance whenever flying from T3 being sherpherded by ground staff.

I’ve experienced this when I’ve flown airlines that only have one or two longhaul flights a day, eg ANA and Kenya. But thought that was because they only staffed check-in for limited hours. With BA Never thought about it, we often turn up early as have a 6 hr drive to Heathrow. Just turn up and check-in, but been gold ever since they invented tier points based Exec club in late 80s.

@londonsteve unsure of your KB. Please remember that you’re bronze status gets you business class check in even if in economy ( L and SH) & J/CE still gets you a lounge run if flying from T3.

Just looked back up page on cell & saw silver mention so likely you’re aware of perks but just in case you’ve forgotten Bronze perks.
