Whilst I welcome Amex’s initiative this is no where near enough to make me want to spend sufficient to earn tier points whilst triggering the 2-4-1 earlier than planned and potentially jeopardise future use.

Can anyone clarify whether these tier points replace the avios that would normally be earned, or are in addition to them?
The T&C’s seem ambiguous, saying that avios are awarded as normal, but also including this para: “…When your Avios are swept to the British Airways Executive Club, these Avios will be automatically recognised as Tier Points and awarded to your British Airways Executive Club account six days prior to your statement date. These will not count towards your Avios balance in the British Airways Executive Club”
