Forums Other Airport lounges Edinburgh and Doha choices (flying Qatar)

Flying out of Edinburgh in business through Qatar in a few weeks. I think I’m right in saying Qatar used the BA lounge at Edinburgh?

If that’s the case, what do we think is better, the BA lounge or the Plaza premium which I can across through my Amex platinum. Normally I would always visit the Plaza Premium and quite like it for the seating options and runway views, but the food is not the best and the drinks options are limited but they do have draught beer. Other benefit is I think the Plaza is much closer the the usual Qatar gate, where as BA at other end.

I was never that wowed by the BA lounge pre refurb and haven’t been in since, does anyone know if it still offers champagne (or any sparkling wine)? We’ll be there at 11am-1pm ish, assume lunch is the usual sandwiches?

We then have the choice of the Al Mourjan lounges at Doha, I’ve visited the garden one previously and really enjoyed the views out to the orchard, am I missing anything not trying the south lounge?

Thanks in advance for any thought!

EDI BA lounge had fizz on self pour – its prosecco but I think you can maybe request champagne from a staff member (i never do). Food changes to lunch around 11.30/12.00 ish and they will put on sandwiches, salads, cheese/biscuits, soup, but also hot food – usually small pies (v moreish) and something like sweet & sour chicken/curry with rice, mash, etc.

There’s a thread on FT that I’ll go and hunt down and put a link to

Edit: thread not updated for a week while, but later posts still pretty relevant.

My preference is the BA Lounge @ EDI… It’s much more relaxed, the best range of drinks and better quality food than the other lounges (IMO). I also quite like the amount of natural light.

That said it’s a few months since I’ve been in the BA Lounge.

You can request a glass of champagne in the BA lounge at EDI. Having been in there a couple of times recently I would choose the BA lounge over the Plaza Premium. I personally think the Plaza Premium has seriously declined in quality of offerings for food since Priority Pass was allowed to access it, and it is certainly far busier throughout the day now too.

The seating in the Plaza Premium, is slightly more comfortable in general over the BA Lounge as are the views over the airport compared to the car park.

It will all depend on your preference for what you desire in a lounge experience, do you want comfortable seating or do you want food and drinks. Former, i’d just about go to Plaza Premium, if the latter then comfortably BA.

Thanks, given the above I think I’ll give the BA lounge a go as don’t usually get the opportunity on my usual flights. Might then move along to the PP nearer boarding time to be closer to the gate.

Lounge choice at Doha might be based on which gate you arrive and depart from. Last time we arrived right next to the Garden but departed from next to the older AM south.
