Forums Other Destination advice Egypt Hurghadsa / El Quesir hotel recommendations

Just booked flights to Egypt for Easter for the family (kids 11 and 14) on the basis it’s not too far and you don’t have to test if vaccinated.

Going to be a mix of independent travel through Cairo, Luxir and Aswan and then 5 nights or so on the red sea coast.

The challenge is finding a suitable hotel. I have a fear of AI hotels being full of people getting drink all day, having their kids asleep in pushchairs at night in the bar so they can carry on, of sunbeds packed together like sardines with towels placed at dawn, and finally the interactive evening entertainment… I can’t face an Egyptian show!

So ideas of decent hotels with good access to diving, beautiful surroundings, but preferably not isolated prison-style, would be grateful received

We’re also going to Egypt this Easter (our twice-delayed 2020 holiday) and we have booked the Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh through BA Avios Hotels (as in the cash for 15 Avios/£). We’ve booked a ‘Grand’ pool room on half-board as the sea is likely too cold for us to swim though fine for diving. Reviews I’ve read and conversations I’ve had are universally positive which is what you’d hope for an Oberoi.

In Aswan we’ve opted for the Sofitel and in Cairo the Fairmont. We booked the Sofitel direct as Accor members and the Fairmont again through BA Avios Hotels.

We’re not stopping in Luxor as we join the SS Sudan there straight from the airport from Cairo.

Resurrecting this thread in the hope of some recommendations for hotels around Hurghada and/or Luxor as we’re heading there in Feb 24.

I note that Accor, Hilton and Marriott have spots in both places but none look particularly spectacular. Equally I had high hopes for the Chedi but a comment I read suggested it was pretty functional but nothing more and the food was average. Welcome any recommendations from those who have stayed in either areas.

Initial plan is to spend most of the time relaxing but to expose the kids to some of ancient sites for a couple of days

We were in Egypt over Easter. We did a great tour… most of it was via the Nile. Though some of the group only travelled via land. They stayed at the Hilton in Luxor, and didn’t rate it v highly.
