Email received – Blue Rewards benefits added to Premier Accts

‘We’re making a small change to your Barclays Avios Rewards T&Cs

From today, 4 September, Premier customers will get all the benefits of Blue Rewards. So we’ve updated the Avios terms and conditions to reflect that Premier accounts (including joint accounts), will need to be separated from Blue Rewards to join Avios. This won’t affect any of your Blue Rewards benefits – you’ll still have those with Premier.

You don’t need to do anything

This email is just to let you know what we’ve changed, but if you’d like to see your T&Cs, you can find them in your Barclays app – just tap ‘View your Avios’ then ‘Manage your account’.

Except I don’t have a Premier account as it has been downgraded!

I have the premier account with the avios bolt on. Got the same email tonight. Don’t understand stand what they’re saying. I always thought the ‘blue rewards’ and avios bolt on were mutually exclusive

I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one left perplexed by what this means and if it has any actual impact.

Thought I’d give it a go, although I don’t know why because I hardly ever use the Premier debit card!

Looking in the app it suggests that the previous blue rewards scheme that gave you money back on direct debits and for having a mortgage etc. is going away to be replaced by Apple TV+ and cash back rewards which you’ll get as a premier customer. At least that’s my read.

I swear even Barclays don’t know what their policy is.

Martin Lewis has a page on it, but this doesn’t match what my email tells me – that my membership of Blue Rewards will automatically be cancelled this month, and that I’ll get Apple TV as a Premier customer.

They haven’t told me anything about 1% cashback, for example.
