Expiry date warning for IHG rewards

So a word of warning. I qualified for 2 x £15 credits for use against food and drinks or an upgrade or 5k in points and so got the occasional email telling me to choose my option by 8/10/24, so of course I was in no rush.
It was only after one saying time is running out, I thought hang on, is this the “American date version” and I contacted them and yep, it was 10th AUGUST 2024!

I always check dates within my account.

I also keep a note in my diary so I don’t miss out on things like this

Rewards have to be slected within 3 months of the date they were earned.

It’s worth contacting IHG rewards and explain the issue, they have some discretion in reinstating the credits, at the very least they may give you the 5k points.

Just checked my app account & my emails. Both are clearly in UK format. It’s obvious in my case as we’re talking about 14 September so no confusion is possible. So the claim is odd – though I’m not saying it doesn’t appear in US format for some. Inconsistent then though. Always worth checking I agree.

One other gotcha I’ve just noticed is that when you view/select F&B vouchers in the Rewards Wallet they appear oldest first, which is good as simple logic says you should always use the oldest.

However if you click the ‘Use my Elite benefits’ button in the app against a stay they appear newest first, so if you aren’t careful you may pick the wrong one.

All my reward wallet benefits are in US date format despite all phone settings being UK.
