Looking to tap into the collective knowledge here. Looking for resort type family (kid) focused hotels in Europe for a May half term trip next year. We did Sani last year which we enjoyed, so looking for similar (not someone who likes to revisit particularly). Can’t bring myself to pay the crazy prices that Ikos are at.

We had a nice family trip to Pine Cliffs just outside Albufeira a while back.

Pine Cliffs is very pleasant with the added bonus that better and cheaper restaurants than the on-resort options are also available off-resort within easy walking distance.

Or, sticking with Portugal, check out our resident amphibious family travel expert’s report on Martinhal.

Salt and Pepper just outside the main gate was fabulous at a great price!

Martinhal is good, probably better for pre-teens

Look at the Mar Bella Corfu (so nothing to do with the Spanish resort of the same name!) They are priced very well for the quality through travel agencies.

Thanks all. Re read the Martinhal review again, just as good second time around.

Anyone have any experience of sagres that time of year, would be a little worried about the weather.

We stayed at Martinhal start of April this year, the weather was good, obviously not super hot. Shorts and t-shirts during day, light jacket in the evening. The indoor/outdoor pool was warmer than the others, but was happy swimming in all the pools – we’re certainly not cold water fans. Sea was too cold for us.
