Hi everyone,
Am hoping someone will be able to confirm (or tell me it’s not possible) a plan for a family of four for a trip to India. Would be two adults, one child and one infant.
I’ve currently got a 241 (new version) and upgrade voucher and am hoping I can combine them on one booking. I’m pretty sure this is possible – and assume I’ll have to call BA to do the booking. My big doubt now is with the infant ticket. I’ve seen that they charge a small amount of avios (10% ?) and also whatever taxes/charges – that’s fine. But will they be able/willing to process all four people in one booking, even with the infant not using either voucher?
Anyone with experience trying this or just in the know would be greatly appreciated before I dive in trying to book. Thanks!
Assuming this is a Barclays upgrade voucher then I’m pretty sure it’s not possible to combine with the Amex 241.
You should be able to do it as two bookings with Adult + child on the Amex 241 (has to be the cardholder) and other Adult in the Barclays upgrade voucher.
I think you can then call to add the infant to either booking.
But you will have two separate PNRs and will therefore have to pay if you wish to ensure you are sitting together.
I recently did this and booked the adult and child on the 241 and the other adult with infant on the upgrade voucher, was able to do both online at the same time using an inprivate browser session to login twice.
However on the way back the seats were snagged quicker than the 70 seconds I was able to do the form in so only the adult and infant got business the others are in prem- economy :/
As above you’ll need 2 separate bookings as the vouchers are 2 entirely separate products. Fortunately you can use the upgrade voucher to book for someone else, so the obvious thing to do would be to have yourself plus child on the 241 and your partner on the upgrade voucher, with the infant added to either booking by calling BA.
How in-demand is the destination you are planning to travel to? Is your older child still below school age – travelling outside school holidays will give you a better chance of getting 3 seats (presuming you intend to travel in CW)?
BA will only be able to do the bookings consecutively by phone, so if you’re worried that the seats will go, you and your partner might be able to make simultaneous bookings (I am not 100% sure if you can have 2 people logged into the same account as I make all our bookings!)
Another option is to save the upgrade voucher for another trip and book a BA holiday for your partner – these are often great value and will earn a chunk of TPs and more avios. We do this regularly and I’m now BA Silver due to a well-planned Caribbean trip last summer when the double TP offer first appeared.
