Looks like the news on fee increases (and big bonuses) is being release today. turningleftforless have published their news, which boils down to:
Gold Credit Card goes from £160 to £195
Platinum Card goes from from £575 to £650
Marriott Bonvoy Card goes from £75 to £95
Business Gold Card goes from £175 to £195

These apply for renewals after the end of February next year.

Not really such big increases. Also introducing much higher sign up bonuses but need to keep the card into Year 2 to earn the full amount which makes sense. Interesting to see if there are any other changes alongside this.

I guess with pro-rata refunds going, that means to get the full 100k MR bonus on the Platinum card you’ll be paying £1300 in fees. It definitely makes it less attractive to the churners, which I guess was the aim of the change.

The new prices and SUBs are already on the Amex website. It’s not entirely clear from the new terms whether they have changed the policy on Plat supp cards.

Seems like it’s now £285 per supp on the Plat, £45 on the Gold. First one free on Gold, no mention of the first one free on Plat as far as I can tell. Still 5 free on BAPP.

Unclear if the supp fee applies for first supplementary card or only to second onwards for the Plat charge card. For now, I’m still seeing that my first supplementary card is free.

Right you are, on the main product page under Platinum Lifestyle it states “The first Platinum Supplementary Card is provided at no additional charge. An annual fee of £285 applies to each additional Platinum Supplementary Card beyond this

So no change then. When the Plat credit card was introduced it was limited to one free supp.

From the way this was trailed I thought it would be much worse, so actually quite pleased by this news.

Indeed! It seems a very sensible and remarkably generous way to lock people in for at least two years.

a £75 increase in fees and no added benefits? I mean for London travellers getting into a lounge is already difficult with the saturated market – Amex isnt doing much favours to itself here.. just enticing new users locked into 2 years

Nothing for existing holders apart from an increase in fees? Disappointing.

There was that recent wave of Amex offers released the past few days, so you could maybe count those.

It’s a bit pathetic that now there is this spend £50 get back £10 offer on my Plat. Is it to sugarcoat the fee increase? I would say so

I don’t even have that £10 offer on my platinum card

I don’t even have that £10 offer on my platinum card

I think that was also available to the Gold card holders but limited to the first 10K signups. If these offers are increasing, then maybe there’s more value to be had, but honestly, it’ll probably be harder to keep hold of the Platinum card.

I’ve just noticed that the Gold card’s referral offer has changed, for the person referring. It’s offering me 14K MR points but also this:

Membership Rewards® points for each approved friend. Offer ends 9 January 2024.
Plus, if your first successful referral is before 14 November 2023, you will earn an additional 2 Membership Rewards points for every £1 spent for 3 months, up to £6,000. This is on top of what you already earn on your Card. T&Cs apply. Offer ends 14 November 2023.

So, that’s 3 MR points for 3 months, up to £6K spent. Curious to see what the Platinum one is like…

Sadly, no such offer for me on either Gold or BAPP. I’m not feeling at all valued by Amex right now. I’ve had a card continuously since 2004.

This offer was on one single blue. We have Plat, BAPP and blue for both players and nothing on any supps either. Really poor offering for us.

The Plat is still the usual 18k reward points which is what I’ve previously got for two referrals this year. No mention of additional spend points.
