Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes First time using the RJ status

Ive just applied for the Royal Jordanian status match and waiting to hear back (fingers crossed)

We are flying Dublin – Las Vegas on Sunday via Philadelphia. On American Airlines
Provided my status match works and updates on time , how do i use the Priority Check in at Dublin airport.
We are flying Economy , have already paid for the bags and seats were picked when we made the booking months ago.
We booked directly with American and I have the Avios to credit to my BA account.

I suppose my question is , do i need to change the AA booking and add my RJ account details to use the priority check in ? or the lounge for that matter.
Also priority boarding , will that need to have my RJ code on my ticket ? just trying to work out if its worth losing out the avios for these perks
Or , when i turn up at the Priority check in , do i just flash the RJ QR-code and im good to use that desk ?

One can foresee problems with people toggling between FF programmes as a result of this RJ game. Amadeus is designed to allow two cards to be added and can distinguish between benefits granted by a programme and the accrual of miles and or points to another. If the wrong one is put in the wrong place it can be quite problematic to unpick.

It’s a shame that we, as the end user, cannot add both of these fields in ourselves… We get just one field that covers both.

Hey all new Gold Sparrows – you can finally add your status card to Apple Wallet – app fixed!

Boom. Thanks. Feel more confident about the benefits on my Maui to San Diego flight now.

When using the benefits, do you normally show your boarding pass or the loyalty card saved on Apple Wallet?

For lounge access, I’m guessing either or would work?

    How about priority security?

    Many thanks.

Boarding pass should trump card. Some places won’t have heard of Golden Sparrow, other won’t accept non-pysical cards.

Can anyone help? I did the RJ status match for OW Ruby, and American is telling me that my FF doesn’t have Ruby status attached?

I have the same issue – AA told me to contact RJ and RJ don’t seem to be aware that their members are entitled to benefits on other Oneworld airlines.

Contacted AA again, they said they will look at it further, but doubt it will get anywhere before my flight next week.

Am I the only one who has issues with login to the RJ app on iOS? It keeps saying “connection time out” when I try to login 🙁

    Steven 122 posts

@DJ Try logging in with your email address rather than your membership no.

@itmightbepoints and @P790TP, have you input your RJ flying number anywhere in the booking? If not, AA won’t be able to see your OW status.

You will need to remember to switch back the FF no to AA if you want the points credited to AA. If you look back at the various threads on RJ, you will see the process.

Yes, spoke with AA too and give them the membership from RJ and they said they can’t see it as Ruby

@itmightbepoints Same for me with Alaska Airlines, seems that the status is propagating to the Amadeus airlines but not to Sabre (I think I have those the right way round?).

Dammit. Flying this week and was looking to take advantage.
Anyone tried giving RJ a call?

    itmightbepoints 11 posts

Tried calling. Nightmare. When you go to “frequent flyer” they ask for a code/OTP sent to your phone. Mine never arrives so we wait, and wait and it cuts you off.
Trying to just pick a selection for Economy and Business says they need to put you through to FF but via the automated service.

Got through to a (semi) helpful person. He says that he can’t do anything, but to email ffp@rj.com

Let me know how you get on, I’ll try tomorrow too.

If you can get someone on the phone from AA, just refer them to the OneWorld website. You/they can choose the relevant tier with RJ, which will then show it equates to OW Ruby.

Calling is probably your best option given that you’re flying imminently.

Once they see that, the agent will hopefully be able to reserve the seats for you.

American know that RJ Silver equals OW Ruby. The problem is that I can only give them my FF which there system says no. Sending screenshots saying I’m silver doesn’t prove anything for them unfortunately.

    Steven 122 posts

@itmightbepoints I had a similar issue with Finnair recently, when I provided my RJ FF to the Customer Services Agent, he was not able to add in my FF no as their system was not recognising it. I was able however able to add it on manually myself via the my booking page. Once I had done it, the agent could then see it reflected on the booking at his end.

@Steven It’s a bit more fundamental than that, it seems that the airlines that use a different booking system aren’t able to see the status. I was able to change mine and select seats on BA no problem at all, however, on Alaska Airlines it doesn’t work at all even though I’ve added the FF number.

    @strickers
, just a note to clarify that this may be unique to the RJ situation at the moment. The Alaska and American systems (Sabre) do recognise status of other OW frequent flyers from airlines, such as BA or Qantas, which use the other system (Amadeus).

@Lyn Thanks for that, I’ve emailed RJ and we will see what happens.
