Waited the painful 2 years to start my spending spree again to hit some bonuses but after reading Robs review of the BA card coming back onto the market thought id try my hand at that first.
I was hoping to hit the 60k spend within 2-3 month and divert spend to the other business cards. However, AMEX had lumbered me with a measly 4k limit which makes hitting the 60k tedious.
I have made a complaint to AMEX regarding the limit as my other AMEX cards started much higher and my payment history is perfect.
Anyone else been shackled recently?
Did you not just call or submit a request via the online portal to raise your credit limit? A complaint may have slowed down your resolution unnecessarily.
If you have the cash flow for this 60k spend you can do a test bank transfer of a small amount And pay Amex via Bacs
You may see your credit limit increased so if you paid £50 it should increase to £4050. So with this in mind you could “prepay” to increase your limit.
I did request a credit limit increase but support said its not available until after my first statement. They also couldn’t say if it was possible to pay off the 4k and use it again in the same billing cycle.
If I can preload the card with funds that would work, ill give it a go.
I see nothing fishy about this. You applied for a card and they offered you one with a credit limit. You could have turned it down.
It doesn’t matter what other credit limits your other Amex cards had when you first got them.
prettyy sure they will increase the limit quite easily no

Isn’t this frowned upon for some credit cards?

Not just frowned upon, it’s probably against some Ts & Cs too.
Capital on Tap lets customers do this however.
@Caveman you may have to spend and repay, rinse/repeat until your desired target has been met.

You absolutely can
I am rinsing and repeating but its painfully slow and irritating. I will hit 20k on Monday providing my last payment has cleared. I will probably cancel for a refund and switch to Amex Plat hoping for a larger credit limit.
What makes yo uthink (a) Amex will approve you and (b) they’ll give you a bigger credit limit?
Baased on your income Amex will only allow you a certain credit limit no matter how many cards you have,
So try reducing the credit limit on your other cards to create some headroom for a bigger limit on another one.
