Wife got an email this morning to say her BA flight this afternoon LCY – BHD may be delayed due to air traffic control issues, the app wouldnt let her check in , and now shes in LCY the machines wont let her check in either.
She has now been told by staff that her 14.55 BA8756 flight is “overbooked”, and that although it may well get away on time she may not get on it, but they will try to get her on the next one!
She booked and paid for this flight on 10 September.
Can somebody here advice me of her position right now and what compensation she should be entitled to if she is indeed not allowed to board?
Many thanks in advance
If your wife is denied boarding owing to overbooking, she is eligible for compensation of £110 if she is put on another flight scheduled to arrive less than two hours later than the original one. If it is over 2 hours she is entitled to the full £220. There is no ‘extraordinary circumstances’ get out for denied boarding so the ATC issues aren’t relevant. It’s possible BA will pay more than these sums to persuade people voluntarily to take a later flight.
Doesn’t look overbooked at the moment based on expertflyer – few empty seats and selling 1 x Y seat. Did she get on?
