Forums Other Flight changes and cancellations help Flights cancelled with no notice + 2-4-1

My wife and I were due to fly Barcelona in February to use up a 2-4-1 voucher and have a long weekend end away (Thurs – Tue: EDILHRBCN return). The 2-4-1 was due to expire in May.

Back in November BA emailed me to advise that our return flights had been pulled forward 4 hours due to the last leg being cancelled. Not great but not a disaster either.

I logged into my BAEC account yesterday and went to MMB for this reservation, to see whether the later return had been reinstated and whetehr I could be rebooked onto it… However, when I went to the booking I have found that our completed outbound itinerary has been cancelled. Looking at the schedule the EDILHR leg has been cancelled, so we wouldn’t make the connection in LHR. BA haven’t rebooked us onto any alternative outbound combination (even though they clearly exist in the schedule).

Though this is annoying, I suspect it is also an opportunity. Am I right that I have the option of being rebooked onto any EDILHRBCN return up to one year from the original booking date, and that BA should make this change for me with little hassle (if I can get through to an agent)?

Yes, and you get to rebook at your convenience, not rewards availability necessary.

    Hi there,

BA flight on 23/12 from Germany to USA via London cancelled and alternative flight offered on 22/12.

Do I need to take this flight or can I rebook with another airline for 23/12 for example?

Who will cover the cost of alternative flight with other airline?
