Discuss today's stories:
Hi All,
I need to fly Madrid – Buenos Aires with my partner and 1.5 year old infant in Late Nov/Early Dec. I have a few questions as I’ve flown with our infant in Upper Class and it worked well (though he was clearly smaller, and much more manageable). I know need to reassess:
1) Is there a way to tell which aircraft / business class seat Iberia fly that route for those dates?
2) Is there a way to check which seats are still available? E.g. I see availability 2 biz class but we wouldn’t fly unless they were together (though considering this)
2) What are people’s thoughts on merits of: 2 Biz Class seats with the infant ‘in lap’, versus 3 seats in coach or 3 in prem economy?
I’ve heard Iberia biz class for that route might not be the best? Any input appreciated.
To be honest I think by 18 months any seat sharing is tricky. The Iberia seats aren’t particularly wide, it will be hard to share a bed with an 18mo. Premium Economy is not a good product due to the fixed arm rests, they can’t lay down. So I’d be quite tempted to take 3 seats in economy and put them in the middle seat – especially as it’s a pretty tricky age for flying and you can’t really enjoy the biz class “trimmings”
1 – do a dummy booking and it usually says. Google flights will show
2 – expert flyer seat alerts could help. Not sure If IB shows the seat map during booking though.
3 – As he is now larger and heavier you might all be more comfortable with him in his own seat but you may have to hold him during take off and landing due to hos age. Also check which car seats IB allows
1) no, the configuration is the same for the old and new A350 so you won’t know what plane is being used. You can maybe see some routes use the A330 which sometimes has no PE in some configurations. The difference between business class with or without door is minimal.
2) Start making a booking and you will get to a page where you get to chose the extras including seat allocation
Thanks for the input. Nearly had a heart attack as the tickets I wanted were gone as I faffed with Combine my Avios failing yet again leading to many expletives.
Found availability for the following day which still works, and decided to go business class as I know the flight will be rough anyway, but might as well be in business and get treated slightly better (that’s the theory at least!).
