Free seat selection

I just got an email from VA saying free anytime seat selection in economy is ending next week and will go to 7 days before departure.
Is this something that’s been covered before? I can’t see it in search.

Does that apply to cash seats or reward flights as well?

I’ve got the same mail, but it implies that it will be only be free 7 days before for Silver tier members… and others are going to 24hrs in advance! Sad times, I’ve long been pleased that virgin hadn’t joined that particular race to the bottom – but now they have gone the same was as the others 🙁

Weirdly I’m only Red but got the Silver email !!

Looks like the cost to reserve a seat one way is around £47. That’s a crazy amount ??!!
