I am finalising my Galapagos Island cruise and wanted to check if anyone recently travelled through Guayaquil?
We will be travelling from Peru, and Guayaquil connection (and overnight stay in Sheraton by the airport) is more convenient that transiting via Quito.
I’m aware of a current travel advice but wanted to get feedback based on someone’s actual experience.
I think @Cat was last there, so she will be able to advise.
I take it you are also aware of power cuts and water rationing due to droughts.
Realise it’s some time ago but we repositioned in Guayaquil in 2019 on the way back from the Galapagos to get back to the UK. We stayed in a Radisson which was great; they advised us to avoid going into the city centre unless visiting the Malecon during the day (plenty of security around) or a local upmarket shopping mall. Both of those felt safe but we decided not to venture any further.
