I will be travelling to Vietnam in June 2026 (hopefully using a companion or upgrade voucher so want to use BA). My options are:
Singapore
Hong Kong
KL
BangkokThen a regional short hop to Saigon. However, looking at Seat Spy all these destinations seem to get booked as soon as the booking window opens in CW. I’m thinking if we are a group of 4 it may be best to split our trips across different destinations, possibly returning via a different city.
We can all be online at 12am to book the outbound T-355, then call for the inbound later.
My order of preference would be:
HK – multiple flights, Club Suite
Sing – multiple flights, CS BUT hard to get reward tickets due to ongoing passengers to Sydney
Bangkok/KL – old-style Club World but probably the easiest to book.If you aren’t forced to fly during UK school holidays, and if you have a bunch of Avios, I’d strongly suggest flying with Qatar to SGN (or HAN depending on circumstances) and save your companion voucher for somewhere where you will have a good chance of using it.
The amount of stress I’ve had with t-355 antics versus the cost saving (and the subpar BA experience) and the fact that for Vietnam you can’t fly non-stop with Oneworld means I would almost always pay more and use Qatar (obviously not during UK school holidays / super peak periods where they just don’t seem to release regular priced reward seats).Sorry, probably not the answer you were looking for, but given I flew into SGN and out of HAN a few months ago with Qatar and had a fantastic experience throughout all 4 flights and decent connection at Doha + great lounge, I wouldn’t even dream of trying it with BA + another airline)

Not travelling through school hols and did look at Qatar but it was 75000 out but 110000 return so not sure if I am overlapping their “peak” period. I guess I can go for BA and then fallback on Qatar if that doesn’t work. Agree, Qatar will be a better experience and I have the Avios – sadly some of my companions do not 🙁
