I have the holy grail of 4x returns on VS points.
The only problem is while I’ve spent enoough on my Rewards+ card, the voucher hasn’t actually arrived in my account.
Virgin Atlantic claim there’s a way to trigger the voucher before the minimum 30 days is up (I’m on about 14 days now but still nowt).
Virgin Money deny this and refuse to speak to me, instead escalating the complaint to head office and giving themselves 8 weeks to reply – by which time the flights will be long gone!
Any ideas?
I think a few people have had the same problem – there should be a couple of threads on here.
It does seem to be a bit hit & miss with this voucher.
What I can’t remember just now is does the voucher trigger once you’ve spent £10k, or is it on the card anniversary? Mine always seems to turn up in October, regardless of when I hit the spend target, but it’s not been a problem for me so I’ve never pursued it.
Have you had a voucher previously or is this the first one?
My vouchers appear once I have hit the required spend, not on the card anniversary. Not sure though whether you need to wait until the end of the month you triggered it or whether it’s linked to settling the relevant statement balance at the time you trigger it.
It’s meant to trigger on 10k. I’d be fine settling the balance if it triggered the voucher!
I’ve had the card since 2020 and had vouchers every year… But this is the first time I’ve actually been able to use it 🙁
If you’ve had one every year then last year’s will still be avilable and maybe even the one before as they’re valid for 24 months from the date of issue. Give VS a call and they’ll be able to tell you straight away which are still valid
Same as @NorthernLass. I receive an e-mail on triggering the voucher saying it will be sent to my account within 30 days but it never actually arrives until my card anniversary date despite that often being months later. Every year I call Virgin Money who say they have sent the voucher and Virgin Flying Club who tell me I won’t get the voucher until my card anniversary. Serious case of left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.
If you’ve still got valid ones they should be showing in your VFC account with the expiry date. I had 2 showing until recently.
@Travels, it is weird! While my son was in 6th form I’d trigger the voucher with 2 terms’ school fees (which took the sting out of it slightly 🤣), but no voucher until the following October.
I’ve found them difficult to use though, even with the direct MAN flights. We used half of the first one, wasted the 2nd one, and finally managed to get a great deal on UC when the dynamic pricing started. Currently have one I need to use before Oct 26 and (presumably) another arriving this year.
Last year’s is there, the previous has expired. Ok, so I’m being greedy and want to use 2!
I checked my emails from last year and got the “30 day” email the same day as triggering the voucher, and the voucher itself 5 days later. Both were months before my anniversary date and about 2w before my statement date.
So how it actually works is mysterious (and important) 😀
Well, I have the voucher now – no thanks to Virgin Money!
This could be a coincidence but I paid off the statement balance on the 20th – and this morning there the new voucher is, marked issued on the 20th.
Coincidence?
Good news, @Clem, are your seats still available (and at the same price)?!
They should be – VS agreed to hold the flights until Sat so I could sort out the voucher. Apparently this is something they can do in exceptional circumstances.
I have to give kudos to the VS agent – she was incredibly astute and helpful. Sharp contrast to V money… 😂
