Many years ago I was reduced from Gold to Silver HH status. Shortly after I was advised this was an error as once you had attained Gold level it could not be reduced.
Same thing has now happened again but this time Barclays hide behind the minimum spend rule.
I have given up on that argument however having sent several e mails to HH Customer Support they are refusing to answer the following question;
What happens to the ten bookings I have made in good faith whilst a Gold Member but are yet to take place. Will I be afforded the privileges of a Gold member as that was my status when they were booked and in most cases paid for in advance.
HH keep wanting to refer me to Barclays although I am convinced this is an internal HH matter.
Any ideas or should I just surrender?
the published rules always were that you needed to spend £10k per annum to keep HH Gold. of course in reality that wasn’t always the case as you have found out over the years but those are the rules…
the status at check in is what counts
That’s always been my understanding as well. If you can’t put £10k through the Barclaycard, consider applying for the Amex Platinum (if eligible) and swallowing the fee (or part of it) for HH gold which should see you right for at least a couple of years!
If your not managing to spend £10,000 per annum (Jan to Dec) on the Hilton Barclaycard and you’re only after Hilton Honors Gold status, you’d be better off applying for the Hilton debit card where the annual fee is a fraction of the Amex Platinum credit card fee.

That is true, @Harrier25 I tend to forget about the debit card because it’s so inferior to the Barclaycard (long may it carry on giving 🙏)

You don’t need to pay the annual fee of the Amex Plat though. You can get it, get the Gold status and cancel it for an almost full refund of the fee.
