Gold Elite status via IHG credit card

Hi – not sure if I’ve missed something here.
I previously qualified for IHG Gold Elite status via my IHG Rewards credit card (the free one…). I know that they’re no longer issuing these cards, but I’d assumed that the benefit would continue for existing members. However, I’ve just had an email telling me that I’m being downgraded to Silver Elite.
Has it been communicated anywhere to existing card holders that this benefit has been withdrawn? I don’t recall getting anything from Creation/IHG to that effect…

i got the email in feb ’22 telling me this (free card).
