Just to let you all know VA allowed me to book using rest of family’s points and 241 vouchers into upper class despite only one of us having silver membership (and only one day left of it). Much more flexible than BA and answered phone promptly at 9am.

Preempting the first question, 50% miles was waived

I am going to book two tickets for me and OH, any chance they would combine points from our two accounts without elite membership? As I have 2 upgrade vouchers

Yes – they are typically happy to do this with the caveat that each sector is only covered by one person’s points (e.g. LHR-LAX return would be fine for you to pay LHR-LAX and OH to pay LAX-LHR, but you can’t pay 50% of each sector each, for example). They won’t combine your points, but take each sector separately from each account. Whilst not always required, it’s useful to have OH around in case they want to chat.
