Anyone been? Melia is terrible at providing helpful info on their website, and I haven’t been able to find a thread on Flyertalk. I’m considering a few nights with the wife and kids, and trying to get a feel for whether it would be suitable.
If you’re referring to the Torre Melina, then the location doesn’t seem ideal.
I am indeed. Not too fussed on location, as the kids don’t give two monkeys about culture and sightseeing. I just want a few nights of proper comfort before we start slumming it in a eurocamp down the coast.
Cannot talk to the Gran Melia but the Meliá Barcelona Sky was comfortable, had a pleasant lounge and had easy access to the beach (which might be useful for the kids).
Thanks for the tip, it does indeed look promising. I shall delve further!

BTW some parts of the beach are clothing optional.

We were there in February, so they weren’t 😂

OT (with apologies to the OP) but I think if you’re into the naturist way of life that wouldn’t stop you! Some years ago I was taken aback by the sight of a gentleman jogging along the remote end of the beach in Nida, Lithuania in March in his birthday suit. It was baltic on the literal Baltic, but he was trotting along looking like it was something perfectly normal that he did every day!
I can’t speak for the inside, but it is a really poor location for Barcelona. Expect to take taxis should you wish to leave.

I’m fully aware you said this, but I really would advise the Meliá Sky instead (all other things being equal).
Thanks @chrisbcn, I am tending that way. The only thing that may sway the decision is the pool at Sky looks quite small in comparison, and a lot of the reviews suggest the rooms are a bit ‘tired’ (not that I’m overly fussed about the latter. Are either something to be concerned about?
