Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Havana Cuba on Air France from Paris…?

  • Colie 1 post

hi everyone, I am pretty naive about using points but I have around 250,000 Virgin Points and I really want to visit Cuba. I understand there is a weekly Air France direct flight from Paris, and that it might be possible to use Virgin Points on Air France. But in the actual process of using the terrible Virgin website it scarcely seems possible… Air France flights to Cuba don’t even show up in the search (and there are of course political shenanigans around Cuba that ebb and flow). Does anyone have any tips for getting to this (less common) destination? Is Air France redemption even possible? Many thanks in advance for any help!

I think you’d need to call to check availability and book. You can get to HAV fairly easily from the US these days, using Virgin points to get to (e.g.) MIA, but that then might be your last US trip as you would no longer be eligible for an ESTA having visited Cuba.

I guess there’s a slight chance this may change with a new president, but I doubt it’ll be a priority…

It won’t necessarily lead to no more trips to th US but it will lead to needing a visa which costs getting in for $ 200 and requires the submission of documents and an interview at the US Embassy.

I just looked on flight connections.com out of interest and DL fly MIA-HAV so in theory you could do the whole trip on VS points, possibly even all on the same booking if you called VS and asked them to put it all on one ticket.
