Planning a trip next year. 6 days Honolulu . Have Hilton points but some hotel property reviews not great. Any recommendations for places to stay or hotels?
    Thanks

We stayed in one of the serviced apartment/vacation apartments that are very popular there so unfortunately can’t recommend any Hilton places. Six days in Honolulu is a long time (in my opinion) – I’d certainly recommend looking at going somewhere else too.

We just returned from Hawaii this afternoon. I agree with JenT, 6 days feels too long for Honolulu. We stayed 3 nights (4 days) and it was just right, can’t imagine any more days. We stayed at Park Shore (as you said, reviews not great for the chain hotels), got a free upgrade to a suite and Diamond Head view, which ended up being a great choice especially in terms of parking as it’s expensive/impossible in Honolulu.

I would recommend spending some time in north shore and/or other island(s). We did Big Island – driven up to the summit of Mauna Kea and there’s been an active volcano in the Volcanoes National Park. Highlights of our trip for me personally.

Stayed in embassy suites by Hilton Waikiki beach august 2019 as a family of four. Great stay and superb location. Complimentary breakfast and poolside evening reception drinks made it good value. Booked again for this summer.

We did 5 days in Hilo on the big island, then 6 days in Honolulu. With 2 days of scuba diving and some chilling, we didn’t run out of things to do. With no diving you’d probably want a car to go explore, or pop to another island for a few days

Having looked at all the hotel chain options, we ended up getting an apartment on VRBO. Picked one in Waikiki near all the hotels, so still in a handy spot. Factoring in points valuations and hotel cash prices, we got a much bigger space with a kitchen for less.

Lots of Americans burning their huge CC earnt points balances mean that redemptions aren’t always the best option

Thanks all. Much to think about.
