Hi guys, Hope all is well.
I am in need of some guidance please, I did have a look in the forum and could not find any posts regarding this.
I have over the last year been severely unwell and my life has been on hold due to a debilitating illness. I have some BAPP companion vouchers and Barclays Avios vouchers which are expiring this year and 2 that have expired last year, where I have been incapable of using them due to poor health. I am lost as to who to contact regarding these, should I contact BA as these vouchers are on my account? Or should I contact the relevant banks over this?
I would appreciate any assistance with this matter. Thank you.
I’m sorry to hear this, but it’s positive you might now be able to contemplate travelling.
You need to call BA(E)C who, at their discretion, will offer extensions of up to three months on the Amex vouchers on medical grounds with evidence from a doctor. There’s no specific provision re Barclays vouchers but BA might consider this also.
I also hope you’re well enough to start travelling again soon. In addition to what @JDB has posted, Rob did an article on extending the 241 a few months ago:
So sorry to read this. I can’t add any advice as the previous two posts answer your query but I do hope you are on the road to recovery.
In my experience BA are willing to extend vouchers beyond three months (both BAPP and Barclays), and your membership tier, BUT you will need medical evidence; they will be extended to just a few days beyond when you can start flying (unhelpful as had to miss a year of school holidays); and I doubt they will reactivate expired vouchers.
But give them a call and have your evidence ready to email, as you will be asked to send it during then call. Then wait for a response.
I noticed you haven’t posted for a while.
Hope you are recovering well.
That reminds me, whatever happened to that Chris Hayes fellow? You know the elderly chap that used to post frequently and who had never eaten a pizza or kebabs?
I sometimes wonder as well. He was local to me (originally, at least, I think he had moved to the south coast in retirement). It would be good to know at least if he’s still travelling around the world with his free seating and accommodating hotels!
Thank you very much for your kinds words and and support everyone. Unfortunately I can only describe 2024 as a hellish year for me, but I hope one day to recover and get back on my feet soon. Thank you all for your very nice and encouraging words, its great to be somewhat back on HFP and I hope to be back on here regularly soon enough!
Many thanks!
