Hi everyone
My boss’ points sitting at almost 190,000 were cancelled without any warning from Accor at the beginning of June this year. I wanted to make a booking this morning and to my horror I discovered the above.
Do you know if there’s a way to recover them? To get them reinstated? What should I do?

That’s Eur 3,800 worth! A lesson to earn and burn there, particularly with Accor being entirely revenue based and so no opportunity for outsize value redemptions …
Good luck with the reinstatement request. Play up the ‘loyal customer’ angle – they must have stayed with Accor frequently in the past to build up such a sizeable balance.
That link is from the pandemic and they maybe much less sympathetic now.
Points expire after a year of no qualifying activity since the last one.
It’s important that we as holders of points and status keep track ourselves of expiry dates and not rely on the companies to remind us.

To be fair to Accor, they changed the rules last year to make it a LOT easier to stop your points expiring. Any earning activity on the account will now do the trick, you don’t need to stay.
Admittedly they don’t have a huge number of partners but you can book a taxi ride via their app, or book a ‘virtual walking tour’ for a couple of Euros via their experiences platform which will do the trick.
I called and they offered me to reinstate the points if I make a valid transaction within the next three months. Phew!
