are B/C still replacing the Hilton credit card when the expiry date is approaching?
I’m not really sure if the banks use the expiry as a means to close the account on a card which is no longer open to new customers.
I’ve not heard of this happening to anyone due to the expiry date – in any case they would have to give you the 60 days notice or whatever period they specify in the Ts and Cs. I’m sure the card’s days are numbered though!
I hope a decent alternative will appear if it goes, will be gutted if and when it happens.
Same, I had a new card a few months ago.
This cards days have been numbered for nearly 5 years now!
Perhaps Barclays have forgotten about it? It wouldn’t surprise me, seeing as they keep saying they don’t know they have an avios card 😂
Why would Hilton get rid when they currently have no other credit card income stream coming from the UK? It clearly must still be profitable for both parties.
The day Hilton announce a new credit card partnership in the UK is probably the day that this card finally pops its clogs.
If that was a valid argument the card would still be open for applications.
I got a new card in April with expiry to 2027. No guarantee it wil still be around then but they are renewing them based on my experience
In my experience the expire date on the card has no correlation to a co-branded credit card being still active.. this was the case with Tge previous IHG B/C and also with the MBNA airlines ones and Lloyds Avios (when it finally went the expire on my card was still few years away, but they sent a letter with notice and then issued a new CashBack card).
Received my new card today, old one expires next month
I know others have reported problems with points not transferring reliably from Barclaycard to Hilton in recent months so I thought it worth noting that mine arrived as normal today.
Is the £10k spend on the Hilton Barclaycard to get Gold status based on Jan to Dec spend or is it based on when you receive your annual statement? I may just reach the £10k limit this calendar year but I realised this morning that I get an annual statement every February in which case I will miss out as I had a hefty bill I paid in February
To add to the above question is there a spend tracker anywhere for the BC Hilton? I had a look but could not see one. And when you do hit the £10k what is the process and the timeline for your Hilton account to go gold?
No tracker and I’m pretty sure that every calendar year £10k spend on the card qualifies you for the next calendar year’s Hilton Honors Gold tier, but I’m sure someone will correct me if this is incorrect.
If I have over 100,000 these hit in 2 separate transaction s. Is that normal?
Found this on the Barclaycard website…
How do I know what my Hilton Honors tier status is?
Silver Status – you’ll automatically gain Silver Status upon taking out a Hilton Honors Platinum Visa card.
Gold Status – if you spend £10,000 in a calendar year, you’ll move to Gold Status for the rest of that year and the following year.
Better than I thought. What a great free card this is in today’s marketplace. LONG MAY IT LIVE!!
Also 2 points per £, but remember that you get 3 points per £ in any Hilton property.
Thanks @Harrier25 That’s good news that it is a calendar year. I have had the card for years but never spent anywhere near £10k to get Gold status as I usually concentrate on getting the 2-4-1 voucher on the BAPP but this year I’ve had a few hefty bills where they didn’t accept Amex so used the Barclaycard instead. I might just get there this year then 🙂
Though only one to use in UK given the FX fee
Mine sits behind Curve abroad.
Though only one to use in UK given the FX fee
Mine sits behind Curve abroad.
And does that still result in 3pts/£ even with curve intermediating the transaction?
Don’t know yet. Never used it at a Hilton abroad because was using IHG black behind Curve in the past as they were handing out 4x IHG points for every hotel stay, even though it should’ve only been on IHG stays, but wasn’t!
A great card that still gets a lot of use in our house (wife has one too).
However, my points that usually hit my Hilton account between 22nd and 26th of the month still haven’t got for May (the one time I want them for a redemption). Fingers crossed they’ll arrive in the next few days.
