Hi
Looking to book for 4 or 5 nights from June 29 – 4th July at Hilton Dalaman.
When I try to book 1 room for 2 adults and 1 child it charges 80k per night worth of points, however when I add 2 children rather than 1 it shoots up to 296k per night.
With the first option it states Standard rewards for both 4 and 5 nights options (I’m assuming if I get Hilton Gold status via Amex Platinum I will get one night free as well brining it down to 320k for 5 nights) while with 2 children it states Premium rewards.
Anyone know if there’s a logical explanation for the discrepancy in pricing? For the record the children are 5 and 2 years old and I have played around with the ages to see if its because one is younger and it is still the same.
Thanks
Fazzy BearIt looks like two children in the booking means you have to have a Premium award rather than a standard as you say. One child would be OK for the standard room reward. You don’t get 5 nights for 4 with Premium room rewards and Premium room rewards are often a lot more per night than the standard room rewards.
It’s not a discrepancy but it’s the way that the system works.

they have an odd kids policy for bookings. last summer and this summer, I booked a redemption room with one small child.
Then I got an automated email directly from the hotel, explaining their kids policy. It said
– first kid in the same room is free up to [sic] age 11.99.
– the second kid in the same room is free up to [sic] age 1.99. If the second kid in the same room is between [sic] 2-11.99, %25 extra charge for the room rate.
– kids in the same room above the age of 12, %35 extra charge.
[end-quote]It made me think that people book without mentioning their kids and pay it directly to the hotel based on these rules.
I don’t know if that makes sense based on your kids’ age and sleeping arrangements. But, if there is confusion, I’d directly write to the hotel before booking redemptions.
How many people does the standard room sleep? If it says 4 I would be tempted to just book for 2 or 3 at the lower price and take proof that when you booked it said that the room sleeps 4 (so the number in your party). If it’s less than 4, you might not be allowed 2 adults and 2 children in there regardless, so it might be better to check with the hotel in this case. They might also let you book a standard room then add a rollaway bed for the older child for an extra fee.
On closer inspection, the room name changes slightly when I change from 3 to 4 people. The picture does however show two double beds but the description says sleeps 3. Shame
I’m sure a lot of properties do this deliberately to try and push people into premium redemptions. Just book a standard room, then Email the hotel after a couple of days and say that you now need to bring a 2nd child and wanted to check they’d fit in your existing room. 99% of the time it’s fine. Worst case scenario, just cancel the booking and you’ve lost nothing.

Thanks – in this scenario how would I pay for the extra person in the room if applicable? Would they request points or cash?
I agree with Savage Squirrel – why on earth would a room with 2 double beds accommodate 3 people but not 4?! I’ve noticed more and more extra charges creeping in recently, though, presumably as hotels try and make up for the last 2 years.
Above is the associated picture for the room they states sleeps 3 people max.- This reply was modified 54 years, 11 months ago by .

Either what the savage squirrel says, or genuinely the standard room has very little space for an extra bed. But as Anna questions, that may not make sense.

Ignore me, that room has lots of space.
I think the problem is [what they think] that it is all inclusive, so it is not just about sleep. And they have an excellent kid’s club, that’s why they want to limit the number of free kids.
But 3 adults might well eat and drink a more than 2 adults plus one 5 and one 2 year old. I’d definitely be asking the hotel about this. Is the kids’ club included in the AI anyway?

In my experience I’ve never ever had to pay extra. This is for rooom only rather than all-inclusive, though. It would almost certainly be a cash supplement if it turns out extra payment is required and you are arranging it directly with the hotel.

It describes itself as an “ultra all inclusive” resort. The kids club is included plus all meals in the main restaurant and snacks and drinks.
Certain specialty restaurants cost extra plus a few other bits and bobs like hiring a gazebo for the day with private foods service.Book the room for three and email and ask how much cash on arrival for one more child. Be prepared to dig deep. If it’s unacceptable, cancel.
Hilton booking system doesn’t do anything with the ages you enter (actually entering an age is optional). If the room is marked as sleeping 3 people then you won’t be getting 4 people booked in there no matter what. Only the base room is bookable for a low number of points and it may only sleep 2 people, at this hotel the base room sleeps 3 hence the large points increase when you add a fourth.
However you never need to specify children in a booking unless you want an extra bed. But at an all-inclusive, they will want to charge something for the food.
For this hotel, the children policy is here: https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/dlmhrhi-hilton-dalaman-sarigerme-resort-and-spa/resort/
Kids Pricing Policy
Children aged 12 & over will be charged 35% of the room rate at check-in. When sharing parents room: 1st child under 12 years stays free, 2nd child under 12 years will be charged 25% of room rate, infants under 2 years old stays free. This would seem to cover your situation, unless the 5yo needs another bed which may cost. So basically you need to ask the hotel.
For other hotels normally you can find the children policy on the hotel’s page on hilton.com (which is not always their normal/main website), there should be a section at the bottom after payment types/parking/minimum age etc., titled Additional Hotel Policies.
Sometimes it will say additional children free with existing bedding, and/or kids eat free with paying adults, age thresholds differ.
