Hilton’s FAQ says the following:
“What is the Point Expiration Policy?
Members must keep their Hilton Honors account active in order to keep their Hilton Honors Points. Under the new policy, if your account is inactive for 24 consecutive months, your total Point balance will expire.
Keep your Hilton Honors account active to avoid your Points expiring: simply stay at any hotel in the Hilton Portfolio, earn Points with a Hilton Honors credit card, earn or redeem Points with any Hilton Honors partner, buy Points or donate Points, or register for a Hilton Honors promotion”This implies that registering for a promotion will reset your 24 month period. I did this today and it seems to have worked. I now get this when asking the chatbot about my points expiry:
“xxxxx, thanks so much for being a valued Hilton Honors member. You currently have xx,xxx Points! These Points are set to expire on 10/28/2026.
Hilton Honors Points expire after 2 years of inactivity on your Hilton Honors account. No need to worry though: the expiration date will reset for another 2 years any time you earn and use your Points”Based on this it would appear that my account should be good for a further 2 years. However the Hilton FAQ also say the below:
“Will my Hilton Honors account stay open even if I do not stay at hotels within the Hilton portfolio?
If you do not have eligible activity in any consecutive 24-month period, your accumulated Points will be subject to forfeiture. To keep your Points balance active, a member may take one of the following actions:
Stay at a hotel or resort within the Hilton Portfolio, thus reactivating membership; or
Earn Hilton Honors Points through any third-party source of Hilton Honors Point accumulation, such as the use of a Hilton Honors American Express Card; or
Purchase Hilton Honors Points; Failure to take action (a), (b), or (c), described above will result in the forfeiture of all accumulated Points. After five years of account inactivity, Hilton reserves the right to deactivation your account.”I haven’t had any stay, earn or purchase activity in the last 23 months, so concerned that my points may be forfeited under this clause, even though they now have an expiry date of Oct 2026 per the other clause. What is the difference between “expiry” and “forfeiture”? What’s the point of having an action that extends points expiry date if they will still fall under the foreiture clause? I’m really confused if I need to take additional action in the next few weeks. Has anyone had any experience with this?
Thanks!
Why don’t you just spend the 8 quid and purchase 1,000 points, you’ll certainly sleep a lot better 🙂

I agrree with this.
Mrs B is sort of in the same position but she rang up their CS to clarify when her points expired.
Told they were Ok for 2 more years after a promo donated points in August 24, but then CS gave Oct 26 for expiry.
Think we’ll just buy some points. to save 350,000 Hilton.
And don’t get me started on Hiltons BROKEN points transfer, as if it worked she could donate all her points to me for free. !!!

Or apply for one of the new Hilton debit cards – that will earn you some sign up points, give you at least Silver status and give you a regular method of easily earning a few points to prevent expiry every time you buy something with the debit card.
