Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Hilton status – when does it expire?

  • 387 posts

Apologies, I should know the answer to this. And if the question has already been asked (and answered before) apologies again – I really need to work out to use the search function more proficiently if that’s the case. Please don’t berate me if it has.!

I have Diamond status with Hilton. My 2023 status on the App simply says Diamond, with nights to requalify. Nowhere does it say when this status expires. There’s no way I qualified for this via stays in 2022 – it’s a carry over from the past. Does this status expire on 31 March 2023 (in which case, is there a soft landing to Gold – if not, I’ll have to force Gold by other means)? Or does it run all the way to 31 December 2023 (or beyond)?

    Thanks

On a related point, logged into my Hilton account today and it says I’m dropping to Silver. Had no stays but spent £10k on my Hilton Credit card so shouldn’t I retain Gold?

The only place I can remember ever seeing my status expiry date is in the monthly statement emails Hilton sends – and even then only if you allow your email client to display images (side note, what is it with so-called marketing communications ‘professionals’ who put the entirety of their message in an image, thus rendering it invisible to those of us who disable automatic image display precisely to stop said marcomms peeps tracking whether or not we open their spam 😉

FWIW mine says March 31, 2023. No indication either way re soft landing.

Just to add – with perfect timing, this month’s statement has just landed in my inbox. No longer any mention of expiry date…

Where does it say you’re dropping to Silver? My account says I am still gold (also via HH card spend) but 0 nights, which is wrong but no big deal as I would never qualify through stays anyway.

Mine came as a pop up in the app when I opened it

Status always expires on 31st March. If you fulfill the requirements in year X your status expires on 31/3/(X+2). No soft landings.

I thought that was the case but couldn’t quite remember! I should stay as gold then from cc spend but we’ll see if OH drops to Silver as his status was from the Plat Amex a couple of years ago.

*Edit – just opened his app and got the message he is keeping gold for 2023 – not sure how as IIRC he got gold around the end of 2021 when he last had the Plat.

I just opened the app after reading this thread and a pop-up told me I’m staying as gold this year (in my case from £10k Hilton card spend).

I’ve still got the “hang tight” message in the app!

I cc had a similar message but wasn’t quite sure What it said as I was in a rush to book a hotel.

Logging into my App it says “0 nights to retain gold” I got gold status from my platinum card which I cancelled over two years ago due to lack of travel during covid. It seems I might have had my status extended by mistake.

As a Diamond, I’m missing 14 nights that should have rolled over. I finished last year on 56 nights, the threshold for qualifying was 42 nights if I remember correctly and everything over should have rolled over.

I wonder whether my 10 nights that rolled over from 2021 don’t count. However, even with that I should still have 4 nights that should have rolled over.

I’ll wait a few days then try and get clarification.

Rollover nights don’t roll over again. So the 10 nights from 2021 won’t roll over.

Rollover nights to 2023 = Actual nights stayed in 2022 – 42. So if you stayed 46 nights in 2022 then yes, you should have 4 to roll over to 2023.

It seems they didn’t count any of the nights during the double nights promo that they ran at the end of the year. That’s exactly what didn’t roll over for me.

I am also missing a lot of nights as most were from 2021 unfortunately.

I just read this thread and just logged into my Hilton account and I am Gold! This is from spending over £10k on the Hilton Barclaycard. Which is absolutely brilliant although I thought that you got upgraded to gold as soon as you spent over the threshold (which I did last November) so I’ve been complaining for weeks now to Hilton. Happy bunny though

    I’m not sure that’s right.
I did 27 nights in 2022, including 18 during the Double promo.
    27 + 18 comes to 45, 3 more than the 42 I needed to retain Diamond.
My updated account now reads Diamond, plus 3 nights stayed – so bang on.

Looks like IT glitch is causing the issue.

Double nights don’t seem to be included in the rollover at this stage – so probably related to that promo. it will probably be fixed today based on:

Honors System Maintenance January 14, 2023
Our Honors system will be offline Saturday, January 14 between 12:00 AM CT and 8:00 AM CT for planned maintenance. During this time, new member enrollments cannot be completed. Current Hilton Honors members will not be able to update their account, redeem points, and will see delays in points postings. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you.

Re Jon (12 Jan 2023)-my last monthly email from Hilton (quoting my points balance) was December 2019 and have had no offers/events emails since !
This was immediately (as it turned out) prior to the COVID fiasco and didn’t get any satisfactory explanation why . I have recently submitted an email to Hilton ‘priorityletter’ a couple of weeks ago and still no response (yet?)
On the odd occasions when booking a hotel stay via my HH a/c I have always been emailed accordingly .
Regarding maintaining gold status via the HHonors Barclaycard c/c I understood the £10K spend was per calendar year and NOT necessarily your annual statement year – which could well be different date wise timing and c/card spend totals

Surely the 2021 nights that rolled into 2022 count towards the 42 nights needed to achieve Diamond. I had 60 roll over into 2022 and, which should have been enough to requalify for Diamond and any night stayed in 2022 would roll over into 2023. Correct me if I am wrong here. Mine updated to 0 nights now and that’s just wrong.

In the last hour or so I got an email that says if I do one stay before 31 March my diamond rolls over to end March next year

Can you get the cheapest night you can find somewhere?!
