These hotel offers that require xGBP to be spent, usually only include “checkout spend”. I assume this includes the nightly room cost, so long as paid at reception at the end, not pre-paid in advance – and isn’t only limited to incidental restaurant/bar spend etc. during the stay?
Some hotels take the money in advance (usually once any free cancellation period is up) even though it’s a “pay at hotel” rate secured with a credit card, which could really mess up some of these deals. Unless reception willing to refund and you then pay in the moment at check out? Anyone had experience with this? I just did the Hyatt £250/£100 offer in FRA – waiting to see if it triggers on the AMEX. Hyatt Place FRA Airport – very very impressed for the price btw.
It’s totally random.
I’ve just had the Marriott Homes and Villas one track the day after I booked it, the pending transaction for the full prepaid amount hit my Amex 5 days later. And already have the cashback paid in despite the offer saying it would only be valid on stays before the end of Nov (and mine begins and ends in Dec).
