I’ve just been booking hotels for my next trip to Japan.

I am finding prices through Hotels.com are generally competitive, and would normally use them alongside a cashback site. (I am using Trivago to check prices.)

However, MS Edge browser has been popping up with good discount codes.

SODEXOHOTEL25 has been giving me a 10% discount on base rates.

    NEWDAYHCOMUK8 gives an 8% discount.

The 10% discount is only marginally poorer than cashback, but you get the value of it up front.

One complaint I do have about Hotels.com and OneKey. I have “gold” status, but I’m only being offered 2% One Key cashback. I think it should be 4%.
(My OH is “platinum”, and gets 6%. I’m obviously using his account for most of the bookings, and I have only used my account where I am paying with One Key cash).

If you have Amex Plat, there is 10% off Expedia. I am finding booking that way more competitive in Japan than hotels.com. I guess you may also be able to stack above codes as well.

You only get the status uplift on VIP access properties. For anything else, 2% is correct even with gold status.

You OH may be getting an extra 4%, i.e. 10% on VIP access properties, 6% on others due to the Platinum offer that I think is still running.

Be careful with the Amex offer. You must follow the link in the offer terms (which precludes you from earning online cashback) otherwise you won’t get the Amex cashback (i.e. don’t do what I did and think you can triple stack online cashback, Amex cashback and Onekey Rewards and not realise your mistake until after making a non-refundable booking!).

Thanks both. I didn’t see that Expedia offer! OH and I have the offer on our free ARCCs (and supps) (but not on my expensive BAPP, which I normally use! GRRR).

As far as I can see, the Amex cashback can be stacked with a discount code at Expedia.

Code GL9VRNSP849CG0PQ is giving me a 10% discount on the base price.

If the offers don’t stack (only time will tell), then the Amex offer is better as it is 10% cashback on the total rather than just the base price.

All the bookings I have made are flexible, so off now to cancel and rebook!

You can double dip, but not triple dip so you can use a code but not cashback site
