How long before flight can I drop checked baggage?

Just wondering how long before a flight I can drop off checked luggage at JFK for a BA flight to LHR? 11pm flight, so is it restricted to 3 hours before, because that would be a pain!

To a degree it depends on what cabin and your status but absent that usually about 4 hours before the flight.

There isn’t a great deal of storage space for bags at JFK.

As it happens I turned up 5 hours before and no issue dropping checked bags. Regardless of status or class of travel.
