OH is flying to AMS today in CE and just received the following email from BA….

We’re really sorry but we can’t offer you food or drinks on your flight today because of an unforeseen issue with our operation.

If you purchased items from our High Life Café, we’ll automatically refund you and wanted to let you know in case you want to grab something from the airport.

Sorry again and we look forward to welcoming you onboard.

I know it’s under an hour but surely for a flight costing over £200 (I wouldn’t pay that but he insists) a few points are due for this shoddy service.

Is this where you would have gotten a banana flapjack or whatever it is?

I got 5k Avios and was fine with it.

@Aston: No because he’s in CE so full bar and a meal is not happening.

Arguably you deserve at least the difference in Avios between ET and CE. If they offer you 5k, push back and ask for more, with a number in mind. Realistically I’d want 15k.

    Isn’t that a bit optimistic?
I received 10k for a combo of problematic food and faulty seat on a long haul in club world.
Can’t see this issue leading to 15k surely?

You should see some of the successful negotiations I’ve had with them if you think this is optimistic! Had I received £100 in Avios for a faulty seat on CW, I’d have pushed back and asked for more. IMO it’s just not good enough to get generic lowball service recovery Avios & copy and paste response flicked at you 3 months later.

You’re welcome to disagree but it’s par for the course with BA – I know they’ll sometimes be crap, but I know (for now) they’ll never successfully fob me off like low cost carriers do. It’s why I fly with them.

I got 5k avios once for not getting any F & B on MAN-LHR, so only 40 minutes.
