Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club How to contact BA from Uruguay – last minute flight change – help!

  • 57 posts

I am hoping someone wise on this forum can help me with a last minute flight change.

Question – how can I contact BA at this time (middle of the night)to confirm the flight time change? BA app is showing original departure time, Iberia app is showing 7 hours delay. No email confirmation of time change, airport website is showing original departure time as well.

    Details in case they help:

We are finishing our South American trip booked on 2-4-1 vouchers over the phone with BA (due to mixture of carriers and cities).

We are due to fly back tomorrow from Montevideo via Madrid then London to Edinburgh.
First two flights are with Iberia and the final one with BA.
Iberia app is showing 7 hours delay and is not letting me check in for the flight or resolve the impact on subsequent flights as they were booked over the phone with BA. BA app is showing original time.

I am less concern about later departure as all flight are on a single ticket and we are staying in a lovely Posada in Jose Ignacio but I would rather not miss my flight/arrive 7 hours early for check in.

I assume I need to contact BA to confirm. Is there a decent number/ chat I could use at this time? I am BA Gold.

    TIA

Off to bed, will call BA first thing tomorrow.

Keeping the topic open as I’m sure there will be helpful suggestions/advice once we get up 😊

As the first two flights are IB operated flights you need to deal with IB in the first instance and not BA.

If the IB app / website (even airport deprtures website) are showing a delay those are going to be more accurate sources of data than BA.

When IB changes a flight time etc it does not always feed back through to the original BA booking immediatly (before anyone starts this isn’t a BA IT fault)

It’s possible that IB systems will communicate with BA over night and update the BA booking and then that should prod the BA systems to rebook your LHR-EDI flight but BAs systems likely won’t do that until the delay is confirmed anyway. It may be that doesn’t happen until you get to MAD anyway.

    The flight is definitely late

The aircraft did not leave Madrid last night and is still on the ground

Need to contact Iberia – they’re responsible for getting you to Madrid obviously but also the rebooking through to Edinburgh. This may not happen until there is a confirmed departure time, possibly something they do at Montevideo, whilst you’re in the air or once you get to Madrid flight connections

IB has a weird IT setup so it’s likely none of this will flow to BA and they won’t be able to help so no point to call them. Best thing to do is keep an eye on your booking in the Iberia app using their 5 digit booking reference

As to whether you should go to the airport I’d guess not but really need them to confirm this. It does look like the flight has been rescheduled to 7.55pm – this is what is showing on Google and on expertflyer availability

    Good luck!

I think IB have changed planes as the link to FlightEadar above no longer shows Montevideo as a destination.

But checking FlightAware for IB6011 which is the outbound flight that suggests the plane is due to depart within 30 minutes and the return flight IB6012 is now expected to depart at 7:55pm local time which is what @SamG says. This is “only” 5hours 35 mins late which suggests that they intend to make up for some of the delay.

If you can I would contact IB to confirm you can delay travelling to the airport.

In the absence of any specific instruction to delay arriving at the airport I think you might have to head there as originally scheduled.

    Good morning all!

Thank you for very helpful responses.

New tickets have been issued overnight and our subsequent flights rebooked.

All apps are now updated and airport website also confirms that the departure is now in the evening.

Gives us time to plan something nice today.

Hope you all have a great weekend 😊
