Hello
I have accumulated 200k Amex points and need some help and advice on how the best way to spend and obtain best bang for buck.
I understand the best way to get value for your points is by using the points to book long haul flights , is this the case as I am not sure ?
I do travel to the Usa and Dubai therefore should I use them to upgrade and travel business /economy plus ?
The value that Amex place on the points is low at 0.45 (I think !!) .
Any help would be most welcome .
Seems like you haven’t bothered to read a single article on the site?
Login to Amex’s Membership Rewards site and transfer some points to Emirates, you’ll see how many points you need to upgrade when you book an economy fare on the Emirates site and look for the “upgrade available” green tick.
For US flights, transfer Membership Rewards to BA Executive Club and click “book with avios” on the BA website, then select an option combining cash and Avios.
This would *seem* to be a logical starting point …

@TGloyalty is right. This is certainly trolling.
@BBBetter There’s a difference between trolling and laziness.
Happens on my main redit forum, where every day there’s a “how do I get started” post, or “where can i get cheap supplies” when there are pinned wikis for both and just reading back 5-10 posts woudld help. The majority of people are just lazy or are content to be spoon fed.
Indeed, a genuine troll would have 10 million Amex points or be in urgent need of spending the GDP of a small country to hit a SUB 😂
You generally don’t really see people reading stuff posted before, as I’ve learnt from Reddit, even if you tell people to stroll on HfP for 5-10 minutes. The search tool on Reddit would help a lot to see people’s previous answers, unless people want fresh opinions on the best things going on.
There was a post asking something like this 3 hours ago on Reddit.
I don’t think it’s trolling with 200k. Worst is if they asked ‘what an Avios is?’.
