I have successfully opened a Barclays Premier Account and got the Barclaycard Avios Plus card, but I am unable to opt into Avios Rewards due to what transpires is a known IT Issue. I get an AV006 error message when I try to opt in.
I have spent about 6 hours on various phone calls with very apologetic and friendly cs agents, but with no resolution. They have confirmed this is a know IT Issue which cannot be solved and there is no other way to switch on Avios Rewards.
It has been escalated to the Barclays Avios team in the hope that they can find some way to enrol me and/or get me some Avios in compensation, but I am not optimistic.
Congratulations to those of you who successfully jumped through the IT Hurdles and got your 100,000 Avios. I only wish I had been able to join you!
I initially had an error opting into Barlcays avios rewards on the barclays app, I tried on the barclaycard app as I could see the account there and it worked, have you tried both apps?

In the app, have you tried going to the ‘products’ section and then choosing Avios rewards from there as that’s how I got round it and others on here too
Going in branch rectified my AV006 error.
I had the same issue – there was no ‘products’ section on my Barclays (or barclaycard) app. I called up the premier support line a few times and also used the online backing ‘chat’ portal (which was pointless). Eventually they must have gotten an IT request logged and after a few days I received a text message saying it should be resolved and it was.
I had to go to the Financial Ombudsman to get my issues resolved as I had opened a Premier account with Avios Rewards activated but then had to change my account number after a few months. My Avios Rewards account was locked to the old account and couldn’t be switched off and registered to the new account. It’s taken over 12 months to resolve and I’m awaiting my backlog of points and upgrade voucher
I had the error too.. live chat were so unhelpful they did not even recognise it as a valid error
What you need to do is open on your phone the barclays home page, click the 100k offer banner, follow the eligibility steps, on the last question say you have not added avios rewards, it will then jump into a hyperlink to the barclays app (make sure you have this set up first) and you will be able to add avios rewards

Did they promise you the backlog of points and upgrade voucher?
Same issue I had which took 5 months to resolve.
They then charged me £20/month 4 months after I cancelled and still haven’t refunded me despite promising to at the time.
Barclays are a farce.

Wow, Thank you! That almost worked. I got past the AV006 error, linked my accounts successfully, it asked me which account I wanted to fund my Avios Rewards from but then took me back to the Home Screen. From the App I can now go to the rewards section without the AV006 error message it doesn’t tell me I am enrolled but if I try and enro it is telling me that none of my accounts are eligible, so not sure if I am enrolled or not.
Time to contact Barclays again I think!

No, it looks to be an undocumented error. The CS Agent I was speaking to said the same thing although she did eventually find someone in IT who recognised the error message, but that did not help in fixing the issue!
I previously had the credit card and signed up for the account tuesday. I haven’t yet done the full switch but is there a way to check whether I am eligible for the 100k bonus before I do? It’s just not clear from any of the communications post sign up.
Really poor customer journey tbh, I now have a different mobile app for each product too
