Flew LGW to CUN return in Club world on a redemption. I’ve done many redemptions but have never received avios, tire points etc.
This flight alone has made me bronze (I’ve never been anything but blue and I’m loving it!).
I assume it’s a glitch – has this ever happened to anyone else?
Don’t mention fight club! Cancelled and rebooked flight maybe?
should it happen – no
does it happen – yes
can you rely on it happening again – no
should you stop talking about it – yes
As Noel Coward once said
“I’m unlucky, my gift horses always have bad teeth”
Why do you think my daughter has a Silver card?!
And my son doesn’t.
Sometimes BA’s creaking IT systems can work in one’s favour.
If a cancelled redemption flight is rebooked into a revenue fare bucket then sometimes the redemption marker is lost & it will credit for TP’s & Avios. There’s supposed to be a manual reconciliation process for these rebookings but it doesn’t always get actioned for whatever reason according to BA insiders on Flyertalk.
Basically you might have struck lucky but don’t count chickens too soon if flight was in past fortnight as it may yet be unwound.
