Just booked 2 pax on Iberia / IB Express from FCO to MAD connecting to ACE next Easter.
Couple of questions please :
1. Economy Avios tickets – not showing any baggage allowances on either flights… Where can I find anything official on Avios Iberia baggage allowance(s) ?
2. Will Iberia check my baggage through to ACE with second flight with IB EXPRESS ?
3. I have 3 hours between connections in MAD – if I needed to collect and check in baggage for second flight is this sufficient time ?
4. Do all IB / Express flights go from Terminal 4 in MAD ?
5. Is there an Avios.com email address I can use to request an amended eTicket, as I verbally asked for this 2 weeks ago ?TIA
1. The cheapest Avios tickets I close luggage (1 bag, 23kg). If you have status you can bring 2
2. If not on the same booking I don’t think so
3. 3 hrs should be good. Issues in MAD tend to be long waits for luggage. But even under that worst case scenario you should be good.
– From the UK you will land on the T4S (satellite). You will pass passport control there and then take a train to the T4 to get your luggage
– T4 is OneWorld only so you have plenty of counters to do the check in on T4
– once you are done. Walk all the way to the left and follow the signs to “puente aéreo”. Main security is in the middle and priority to the right. The left one is rarely used but everyone can. It will take you 5 min to pass security
– if you are flying to Spain then your gate won’t be far. If you are leaving Schengen then add another 10min for the train back to T4SIn case it is not clear 4. Yes
As for 5, good luck!
Thank you both – Avios.com have gone mute on me so far.
Kind regards
Just to be clear, the answer to 2 depends on whether you made one booking with connecting flights or two separate bookings.
If the former your luggage will be checked through to ACE, and if a delay caused a missed connection they would be responsible for accommodating you on a later flight and cost of meals / accommodation etc. In the interim.
If the latter you will have to clear immigration and customs in MAD and recheck your luggage. That obviously adds quite a bit to the time needed. 3 hours should be ok, though in the event of a significant delay to the inbound it increases the risk of a missed connection. In that case Iberia would not be on the hook to accommodate you on a later flight, even if the delay is their fault.
The OP is flying an inter European routing there will be no immigration and will most likely be a T4 to T4 connection.

Correct, T4S is for outside Schengen … T4 for all EU and national flights.
