My wife would like a flying visit to the falls.
Looking for travel advice…via Brazil or Argentina, and then ?…lodgings in the park…etc. etc ? There is obviously a lot of stuff on the Web, but can’t beat advice on here. Thanks

How many nights is your flying visit?
Cheers for that…didn’t think to search on here. I guess we’ll have 3/4 nights as I’d like to go on to Mendoza on the way back.
BTW @JDB ‘s excellent posts about Argentina are very interesting and well worth a thorough read.
We stayed at the Mercure on the Argentina side which was fine.
Did separate trips to Argentinian falls and Brazilian falls. They’re both pretty close and easy to do. We had to cross the border for the Brazilian visit, so you need your passsport, but to speed you across there is a tourist lane which is quite short in comparison.
Definitely worth doing both as they have different persectives.
Just spent 2 nights at the Melia which we thoroughly enjoyed. We flew from sao paulo to the Argentina side. We had arranged for Iguazu Falls Travel to pick us up at airport, take us to Brazil side of falls for few hours (this was sufficient time to do the walk, get something to eat and get back again), and then driver took us to the border. I’d definitely recommend them. Its really simple, check out of Brazil side and then walk a tiny bit to check in Argentina side where another driver was waiting for us. We would have liked another day at Melia to do all the walks and be more leisurely. Then we got hotel taxi to take us to airport from Argentina side to Buenos Aires.
If it’s in your budget, I’d definitely recommend the Belmond – Hotel das Cataratas (booked via Emyr). It’s in the national park so you have access to the falls before the public are allowed in. The place is fantastic
Definitely do both sides, they’re quite different experiences.
Can’t recommend anywhere to stay unless you want me to look up the names of the hostels I stayed in 😉
Definitely do both sides. We stayed two nights and did one side each day.. it was totally worth it and my highlight of my travels around Argentina (with mendoza as a close second!) it’s very easy to travel over the border – any of the taxis can take you from one side to the other with a quick hop outside on the border to get your passport stamped.
I made sure to fly home from Rio rather than B.A as I benefited from the Brazilian law of no surcharges. My one way business class flight had about £20 of taxes on it..!
