hi all,
I didn’t hit the target to renew Diamond for this year, although I am still AMB atm so I assume I will drop to Platinum. My question is that my status still shows as Diamond on the website/app, although the date has disappeared, and it says they are updating my status based on qualifying etc etc
what happens tomorrow night with a CP stay? does the fact that I still currently show as Diamond but with no actual expiry date, mean I can still select breakfast? any related experience?
am perfectly happy to accept this if its the case I would just like to know where I stand etc
thanks
Status will most likely be refreshed next week, though it was 10th Jan last year.
You will get diamond benefits as I doubt the front desk staff can see the expiry date.I checked in at an IHG hotel today and was offered my choice of diamond amenity 😬. The app still says diamond.
This has been asked a few times previously and apparently it can take up to 2 weeks for statuses to be readjusted.
thanks both, will see how I get on tomorrow…
Losing my diamond and now slowly losing my BA status. What a great start to the year!
Of course it’s lounge access that counts, not Diamond status. Both if you can have both of course, but of itself Diamond isn’t worth fussing over.
I don’t know, there are some hotels which do a very nice (and pricey!) breakfast, but don’t have a lounge.
Off for my penultimate 💎 brekkie shortly 😢
Decided only one of us would remain diamond – so just used the “free transfer” for diamonds to consolidate points in the “free breakfast” account.
Also helps for bidding on IHg experiences!

Fair point. As an aside, looking forward to trying Hilton Molino Stucky Venice this weekend. Given local prices, happy to have lounge access there. Given time of year I’m hoping small lounge not crowded out…

Horses for courses. We rarely use lounges but the breakfast is the most important part of a vacation for partner.

True. I guess until now I’ve always had access to free breakfast and lounge. I’m starting to be persuaded that it’s free breakfast that’s more appealing, though you can get more limited selection in lounge. Anyway, not planning on staying at IHG again until they give me a status match….
I’ve got quite a few cheap HIX stays booked to get this year’s suite upgrade. I don’t think I’m going to be organised enough to get the lounge pass. 2026 we might do a couple of stays at Iberostar properties which have various meal plans.
@Colin, I transferred all my OH’s remaining points to my account the other day while it’s still free!2026 we might do a couple of stays at Iberostar properties which have various meal plans.
Anna, have you stayed at Iberostar properties before? Do you have to select the meal plan only at checkin?
Thinking of trying one this year. Not sure which one is best for children.Decided only one of us would remain diamond – so just used the “free transfer” for diamonds to consolidate points in the “free breakfast” account.

Thanks for the reminder on this @Colin – just transferred Mrs GT’s 386k to me (as remaining Diamond) before her status lapses later this month … the legacy of Creation continues 😊
@BBbetter, never stayed at one but I noticed that at some of them you can book B & B/HB/AI. We’re not huge eaters and drinkers so HB would probably be our preferred option on a fly & flop type holiday. You can book each package online, but I imagine they would be quite happy to offer you some kind of upgrade option on arrival.
The one I really fancy, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, sadly isn’t in the IHG portfolio! It’s our 30th anniversary next year though, so I might start looking at which ones have dive centres on site as that’ll be a great excuse to splash out on a special trip 😂
If you haven’t come across it, this is cool https://www.iberostar.com/uk/my-room-online/
Not sure if all hotels are available, but gives you a short video of the location of & view from each room, and once you’ve booked lets you choose where you want to be.
I was told by IHG that those losing Diamond at end December would retain status (and benefits) to end January.

Would be good news for my IC stay in SGP end of January, not so good for IC HK in Feb.. beggars can’t be choosers tho I guess…assuming this is true
Checked into CP this afternoon and given decent upgrade, and the free breakfast still so all good and appreciated

Thinking of trying one this year. Not sure which one is best for children. We stayed at the Iberostar Cala Millor on Mallorca a couple of years ago, before they merged with IHG. We booked breakfast only but they offered us an upgrade on the meal plan on check in
We really liked this hotel was very nice. Turns out it’s owned by Rafa Nadal, one of many I’m sure
Does anyone know when IHG offered a fast track to diamond last year to those who lost their status. I recall it was Jan / Feb time. Asking as hoping to a week at an IC in the middle east in February to escape the weather here. Will rejoin Ambassador and have lounge pass and a suite upgrade certificate.
If you have a lounge pass, and book a hotel with a lounge, you probably don’t need diamond!

That was my point exactly – but others seem to be trying to convince me differently…
