Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Inexcusably bad coffee in Club World

Anyone else agree BA lags decades behind with their dishwater coffee and no milk alternatives in business? Pales in comparison to Emirates and iced lattes in the sky but I know a complaint would go nowhere. It’s up there with a cold bag of nuts on the decidedly un-premium service standard.

The fact they withhold their Nespresso for First only is actually embarrassing. Everyone has a Nespresso machine. There’s nothing premium about a decent coffee…

But that’s BA’s general approach to CW – everything apart from the seat is a premium economy product.

I always find the coffee way too strong and have to ask for extra milk!

They must listen to “feedback” occasionally though; last summer they had added an extra meal to the LHR-NAS-GCM route, which used to be 12 hours surviving on the main meal plus teeny afternoon tea. I commented on it and they said they had had lots of complaints about the lack of food!

I refuse to drink any coffee or tea on board given the water they use is not clean or more accurately the tanks/pipes are not cleaned. It’s fine once or twice a year, but it you fly regularly it’s not good for you.

Edit: To be fair, Emirates in F uses bottled water for their coffees/teas. I think that’s the only airline.

Coffee is coffee, it doesn’t need any kind of milk or sweetener to be enjoyed.

Although, I think the way that the jugs are used interchangeably means that the coffee does tend to be tainted with the taste of tea and the tea tainted with the taste of coffee.

You may have the milk alternate resolved https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/british-airways-executive-club/2149137-dairy-substitutes-ba-oat-milk-here.html

Anyone with an interest in this topic might enjoy this episode of the Search Engine podcast, “Wait, should I not be drinking airplane coffee?”. Fair warning though, based on many of the comments on the forum and articles, I know the style of the podcast will NOT appeal to all!

I was told on board I needed to have requested a special meal in order to have some small milk alternatives served with my food that I could use for coffee. I mean for god’s sake BA, roll this oat milk trial out quickly…

Take some Nespresso capsules with you and just ask.

“Alternative” milks are highly processed and very unpleasant-tasting IMO. Many contain emulsifiers which have been linked to all sorts of health conditions. Unless you are dairy intolerant or vegan, full fat, organic cows’ milk is the healthiest option and doesn’t ruin the taste of the coffee 😂

So I’d need to bring my own capsule and milk, and even then with the hope the staff use the machine for First passengers for me?

Only one step more to cut out the middleman altogether… 😀 😀

110 ml of caffe2go is bigger than BA’s standard thimble.
