Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

    Heya,

I’m trying to book some internal Oz flights but BA website says there are no flights, either for cash or Avios but when I do a general search on Quantas site there are flights. Can you open a Quantas account and transfer Avios there and try to book that way?

Looking at either Perth – Alice Springs – Hobart – Perth or other way round.

Yep BA can’t sell cash QF flights, they can only book reward flights if there’s availability.

No you cannot transfer avios to QF, they operate different reward schemes/currencies. I don’t know about that route but you can also use avios to book Virgin Australia flights by transferring your avios to Qatar airways and book that way which may or may not help on your route.

Note, BA can only see standard award Qantas flights and not flights where qantas sells on for more points based on the cash fare.

I will try that, I have a Qatar account, thank you.

May well be because they are not Qantas (no U) operated flights. At least some of those can be booked by ringing BA even though you can’t see (award) availability online.

BA online only sees mainline Qantas flights. Flights by a subsidiary whose name I forget can be booked for avios over the phone, but don’t show up online.

Booked several internal Oz flights lately, you can check Qantas Link availability on AA website then ring BA or like has already been mentioned Virgin Australia on Qatar website. Qantas Link flights seem better value to me.
