Evening all.
I’m trying to book the following in business using a Barclays cabin upgrade voucher. The website shows availability in business but I keep getting the error above when I click through. Any ideas?
LGW to IBZ 16/10/23 09:05
IBZ to LHR 20/10/23 15:10A lot of people seem to be having IT issues with BA just now. Otherwise – how many people are you booking for? Are you sure the return leg is on a BA flight, and not, say, Iberia?
Both BA flights.
It’s for one adult and one lap infant. I tried it with just an adult but the same error comes up.
I’ll give it until tomorrow and try again
The Barclays voucher comes with many design faults, this may be yet another! If you carry on getting the error it might be worth just calling BA and getting them to book it over the phone. If you explain about the IT issue, they will waive the booking fee.
Great thank you! Is there a best number I can read them on to book rewards flights?
I just had a play with this, and it looks like you have to have the same airports for your departure and return (e.g. it will let you book LCY-IBZ return but not LHR-IBZ then IBZ-LCY). Your routing is within the rules, but it looks like you’ll need to call to book it.
Another BC upgrade voucher fail!
You just call the BAEC number on the website and select the option for a new avios booking. They might close at 8 pm though, I’m not sure.
So I called today and it turns out that the Barclays upgrade voucher is not valid on ‘Euroflyer’ tickets! Back to the drawing board!
So is it the LGW departure that’s the problem?
Yes, the flight from Gatwick is listed as a ‘BA Euroflyer’. Any flights that are ‘BA Euroflyer’ are not valid unfortunately! I did have a look in the T&C’s which to be fair does state that the upgrade voucher is only valid on BA mainline and CityFlyer.
(That still doesn’t explain why it wouldn’t let your your dummy routing above work (LHR-IBZ, IBZ-LCY) as both of these flights should be valid)
I’ve used it out of Gatwick on Euroflyer before, I’d call back ! Try the US number after 8pm, Unscientifically this seems to be the best way to get a UK based agent!
